About

Wicklow based artist, Alice Hayman graduated from the College of Marketing and Design in 1994.  She specialised in Interior and Fabric Design but has always had a passion for art and painting.  She is primarily self-taught and has painted consistently throughout the years, constantly learning and evolving. Her unique style can be realistic or imaginary depending on the subject matter. Her primary interest is in colour and she is inspired by artists like Chagall, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Klimt. Using layering to build up her paintings, she often finishes them off with a palette knife to add extra depth and texture. She works mainly in oils and acrylics and enjoys experimenting with mixed media.

She finds that the more she paints the more inspired she becomes, the more ideas flow and the more beauty she sees around her. She is a lover of nature and paints (among other things) the mountains, the coastline, the sea, rolling hills and fields, the changing seasons, lighthouses, the sky, sunrises, sunsets and moonscapes. Her landscapes are atmospheric and have a magical quality about them. She has been a member of Kilmantin Art Gallery in Wicklow town since 2009 and has sold paintings to people locally, nationally and internationally.
